Opened in 1891 under the leadership of Osman Hamdi Bey, it is one of Türkiye's earliest museums. It comprises the Archaeology Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Orient and the Tiled Kiosk of 1472. Its most famous piece is the Alexander Sarcophagus, found in Sidon.

It is a short walk from Topkapı Palace's outer courtyard, so you can combine both in one day.
